Valerie’s free spirited designs reflect exactly who she is. In each drawing you can see her joy of having fun. Her designs are miniature watercolors with a unique whimsical flair.

Valerie grew up in Mobile, Alabama and always loved to paint and draw. At the University of Alabama she earned a B.A. in Communication with a major in Advertising and minor in Graphic Design. After graduating in 1990, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to experience life and pursue a career in advertising. Her sales career was a wise and successful choice, but her dream of painting and illustrating always lingered. She married Pat Johnson in 1996 and with his encouragement she began painting and illustrating for friend and participated in several local art shows. However, it was the birth of their son, McNeely Patrick Johnson (Mac) in 2001 that gave her the determination to fulfill her dream of painting and illustrating full time. He is the smile and the giggle in each of her designs.

So. . . in January 2002, with the support of her family and friends and the encouragement of her mentors, Valerie Johnson Designs, Inc. was born.
